Switches with the speaker
Mixed videos work sentence by sentence. Every English line is subtitled in German, every German line in English.
Never leaves your Mac
Speech recognition runs on the Neural Engine with Parakeet, translation with Apple's on-device engine. No upload, no account.
Review before export
See every line with its translation. Fix any wording, or flip a line's language with one click, then export.
Ready to post
Get an MP4 with the subtitles burned in, plus .srt files for YouTube or your editor. Optionally show the original line too.
How to install
Copy the command above and paste it into Terminal.
Press Return. It installs Subtitler into your Applications folder and opens it.
Your first video downloads the speech model once, about 500 MB, and macOS asks to add English and German translation languages. After that it is fully offline.
What does the command actually do?
# Downloads the app, installs it, and clears the download # quarantine so it can open. Nothing hidden. curl https://subtitler.heliconsolutions.net/Subtitler.zip ditto -x -k Subtitler.zip /Applications/ xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Subtitler.app open /Applications/Subtitler.app
Why Terminal, not a double-click?
This build is not yet notarized by Apple, so a normal download would be blocked by Gatekeeper. Installing through the command above avoids that, and it is fully transparent: you can read every line of the script before running it.
